South Carolina football vs. Tennessee top prop bets

Tennessee under 34.5 points

The Vols are averaging more than 40 points per contest, and they’re fresh off a 62-point outburst against an SEC opponent. If you watched that game versus Missouri last week, you’d think that this total is much too low.

However, the Gamecocks present a much tougher defensive unit than the Tigers. South Carolina ranks 23rd in the country in scoring defense, allowing only one opponent thus far to reach the 20-point mark. Outside of a 40-13 loss against No. 2 Georgia, the Gamecock defense has surrendered totals of 0, 17, 16, and 14.

While Tennessee will roll out a much better offensive unit than East Carolina, Troy, and even Kentucky, the Gamecocks should have enough defense to hold the Vols below their season average.

When looking closer at the Vols’ schedule, it looks like some of their high-scoring outputs have come against a few weak opponents, too. Tennessee has notched 30 or more points in four of five contests, but only one of those foes boasts a top 50 scoring defense. That was Bowling Green, a team that the Vols have a serious talent advantage against. Pitt, Tennessee Tech, and Missouri all fall outside of that elite defensive status, with the Tigers ranking 126th in total yardage allowed out of 130 teams.

The only true test thus far was against Florida, which resulted in just a 14-point output for the Volunteer offense. While we expect the Vols to score more than two touchdowns, we believe getting to 35 points will be out of reach.
