Bold predictions for South Carolina football

The Gamecocks score on a trick play.

The coaching staff has been pretty aggressive with deep shots in the passing game so far this year, but we’ve not yet seen a true trick play. We anticipate that this will change on Saturday as this is a game that could go a long way in terms of confidence if the Gamecocks should escape with a win.

Whether this be a fake kick, a double pass, or some sort of reverse, look for South Carolina to get creative with the offensive game plan. The Gamecocks have been struggling on offense, having notched just 20 and 13 points in their last two matchups, respectively. This game, too, is expected to be a low scoring affair, so the Gamecocks will need to get on the scoreboard in any way possible.

Key players to watch could be Luke Doty, Juju McDowell, Dakereon Joyner, Jaheim Bell, and Josh Vann. I think we’ll start to see some wildcat looks this week with Joyner lining up at quarterback. That could open up some possibilities to either have him throw or to get the ball out wide for some sort of misdirection.

The Gamecocks will need to take their shots down the field in order to loosen up a stout defensive front for the Kentucky Wildcats. A little bit of trickery could wind up doing the job.
