South Carolina football: Gamecocks vs. Georgia Bulldogs odds and prediction for college football week 3 matchup.

The South Carolina football team is getting ready for its toughest test to date, a trip to Athens to face the second-ranked Georgia Bulldogs. The Gamecocks escaped last weekend with a road victory over East Carolina to stay undefeated.

After falling behind 14-0 early in the first half, South Carolina battled back with a strong second-half performance to win on a field goal as time expired, leaving Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium with a 20-17 win.

Georgia, on the other hand, won 56-7 over UAB even though starting quarterback JT Daniels was out with an injury. Stetson Bennett played in relief, tossing five touchdown passes. That win comes a week after taking down Clemson in the opener, and has boosted the Bulldogs to No. 2 in the polls.

This will be the 69th all-time meeting between the two rivals, with Georgia leading the series by a record of 48-18-2. The last 11 meetings have been nearly split, with the Bulldogs holding a 6-5 advantage, but the Gamecocks have fallen in five of the last six matchups.

Both teams are looking to stay undefeated on the season, and move to 1-0 in the SEC standings. Let’s take a look at the Gamecocks’ odds for an upset this weekend.

While moving on to 2-0 was encouraging, the Gamecocks are going to have to play much better if they want to take down SEC rival Georgia for a second straight time in Sanford Stadium. Luckily, there may be some help on the way.

Luke Doty, who many speculated would play this past weekend, should finally be healthy enough to suit up for the Gamecocks under center. Reserve Zeb Noland has played okay in his absence, completing 26-of-46 attempts for 335 yards and five scores, but Doty brings another element with his ability to run.

Georgia will present a tough task, as the defense has yet to allow a touchdown this season. The Bulldogs have given up 10 points over their first two games combined, and seven of those came on a fourth-quarter interception return by UAB with the game well in hand.

Georgia does have a question mark at quarterback, with starter JT Daniels missing last week with injury. In his only appearance of the season, the Bulldog offense was held scoreless, albeit against one of the nation’s better defensive units in Clemson. Daniels is expected to be back this weekend to face the Gamecocks.

With issues at quarterback, and the solid play thus far by both defenses, expect this one to be low scoring. We’re taking South Carolina to cover the massive spread, but thinking the Bulldogs will be able to win this one with relative ease.
