The South Carolina football team is preparing for a road matchup with East Carolina this weekend, as they look to continue their winning ways and open the Shane Beamer era up with a 2-0 start. Last week’s 46-0 beatdown of Eastern Illinois was encouraging, but the test gets much tougher in the coming weeks.

Coach Beamer knows that, and he’s expecting a raucous crowd in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium on Saturday. The Gamecocks still have question marks at quarterback, as well as a couple of issues to clean up on the offensive side of the ball.

With so much uncertainty surrounding the contest, we’ve seen the betting line for the game shift in a number of ways over the last week.

The original line opened with the Gamecocks as slight favorites, but it made a huge jump to East Carolina (-4) in a couple of short hours with most early bettors backing the Pirates. ECU has remained favorites throughout most of the week, but the line has dwindled closer to a pick ’em to this point. If that trend continues, we could see South Carolina become the favorite before the game kicks off on Saturday.

South Carolina football is picking up steam.

It appears as though picks backing the Gamecocks have continued rolling in, with East Carolina’s betting advantage down to just a single point according to the latest WynnBET odds. The over/under has also seen a shift down from 58 points to 56.5 for the total, with bettors expecting the game to stay a bit lower scoring.

South Carolina has yet to announce who the starting quarterback will be against the Pirates, though the thought is that we’ll see Luke Doty making his season debut in Greenville this weekend. If Doty isn’t able to go, we’ll likely see Zeb Noland make his second straight start.

No matter the signal caller, we’re expecting this one to stay close throughout. East Carolina is led by a veteran quarterback, and they’ve got a host of skill players to help him out. We’re looking at the under, as we expect the Gamecocks to try and control the clock with a strong run game and keep the ball away from the Pirates’ potent offense. I would try to lock in the under before it declines any further.

This game will kick off at noon on ESPN 2, but you can also stream live on Fubo TV. Be sure to follow WynnBET as the gambling action continues to move.

Make your pick for the Gamecocks here if you think they can pull the upset this Saturday before the line moves any further in South Carolina’s favor.
