South Carolina football: Week 1 preview
Prediction
South Carolina enters the game favored by about six touchdowns. They could make it more if they really wanted. Eastern Illinois shouldn’t pose much of a threat on either side of the ball, and the Gamecocks will easily cruise to a victory in its season opener.
The Gamecocks haven’t scored 50 points in a game in nearly two seasons, but they’ll get close on Saturday. It just depends on how long coach Beamer keeps the pedal to the metal against the Panthers.
This week will provide a much needed win, and should help the team ease into the 2021 slate with a couple of SEC games looming at the end of September. Look for the Gamecocks to get up early, play a ton of players, and leave with a win in Shane Beamer’s first game as a head coach.
