Where will South Carolina football finish in the SEC East?

1.Georgia Bulldogs

The Bulldogs are the unanimous pick to win the East. They have a loaded roster on both offense and defense, a veteran quarterback with SEC experience, a fantastic running back room, and stout defensive line.

There are pieces to replace in the secondary, and they unfortunately saw wide receiver George Pickens go down with a serious injury over the offseason, but expectations remain high for Kirby Smart’s squad. The Bulldogs have the one of the easier cross-divisional slates, avoiding LSU, Alabama, and Texas A&M, and they’ll be favored over everyone in the East. A matchup with Clemson in game one will be the most difficult test, but it won’t affect the SEC race no matter the result.

The Gamecocks take on Georgia in week three, hoping to pull another upset in Athens, but it seems unlikely at this point. Coach Smart will hope to lead his team to an undefeated season and an appearance in the SEC Championship Game after having to stay home in 2020. If those things come to fruition, a second chance at the College Football Playoff is in the mix.
