South Carolina is a little more than a week away from its 2021 season opener, as Shane Beamer gears up to lead the Gamecocks into Williams-Brice Stadium next Saturday. The Gamecocks will be favored heavily in the first matchup, and they should be able to get the Beamer era kicked off on a positive note.

With the season quickly approaching, we decided to look at a few preseason prop bets that you can still lay your money down on involving the Gamecocks.

These bets are gauged at predicting the outcomes of the South Carolina football season as a whole, rather than weekly game spreads, meaning you won’t see a return until the regular season concludes. Still, if you don’t mind waiting, there’s a chance you can cash in on at least one of these wagers for the 2021 campaign.

Let’s take a look at three prop bets to see how you can capitalize on South Carolina’s success next season. All odds are provided by WynnBET.

Do any South Carolina football bets provide value?

The first two wagers include the team’s SEC and National Championship odds, both of which consider South Carolina to be a long shot.

The Gamecocks have been given +50000 odds to take home its first-ever national title, meaning a $100 wager would yield a $50,000 return. While the profit would be great, the team has shown very little to believe they have a chance to wind up in the College Football Playoff, let alone win the whole thing.

The same can be said of the Gamecocks’ SEC Championship odds, which are listed as +20000. A $100 wager would dish out $20,000. Those are the second-worst odds in the conference, ahead of only Vanderbilt. It’s likely wise to stay far away from this bet, too.

Of the three preseason bets available, only one has true value, and that’s in the win total. While the Gamecocks do face a brutal schedule, there are winnable contests on the slate.

South Carolina’s bar has been set low, with the Gamecocks needing just four wins to cash in. The total is set at 3.5 wins, with the likelihood of South Carolina eclipsing that mark at -140, meaning a $140 bet yields $100.

On the flip side, if you’re a little nervous about the Gamecocks’ early quarterback issues, the team has +130 odds to fall short of that total. For those with little faith in Shane Beamer’s unit this year, a $100 bet could land you $130.

Personally, I believe the play is to take the over. South Carolina should be favored in at least four games (Eastern Illinois, East Carolina, Troy, Vanderbilt), and they could reach the four-win mark by the season’s halfway point with each of these matchups coming before week eight.
