South Carolina football is picking up momentum on the trail.

Recruiting season is in full swing in Columbia, with the Gamecocks welcoming in a slew of recruits this June as prospects knock out their official visits. Shane Beamer and the new coaching staff have made quite the impression on those visitors, with a number of highly rated talents posting about how enjoyable their stays were, while taking note of the facility upgrades and the vision that coach Beamer has for the future of the program.

Over the last two and a half weeks, the Gamecocks have hosted four- and five-star talents from up and down the east coast. The positive buzz that the coaching staff is receiving has breathed a new light into the fanbase, with many now starting to believe that Beamer is truly the man for the job. Beamer’s whole recruiting pitch is about creating a family atmosphere, showing off the perks of living in the state’s capital city, and envisioning what can be achieved at South Carolina. After all, he was a member on staff when the Gamecocks reached their one and only SEC Championship Game. He also saw the program reach new heights under Steve Spurrier with a foundation that he helped lay.

Beamer understands that the path back to relevancy in the SEC will take time, but he’s doing things the right way. It says something that a young, inexperienced coach can create such a positive response, especially considering the Gamecocks have won just six games since 2018. He and the rest of the staff appear to have the serious attention of these highly rated prospects, most of whom may not have considered South Carolina as a landing spot just six months ago.

Beamer has loaded up the staff with recruiting aces, with a number of players commenting on their relationships with position coaches like Justin Stepp (WR), Torrian Gray (DB), and Montario Hardesty (RB).

This class is important as it’s Beamer’s first full cycle in Columbia. Securing a group that contains difference makers will be key as the Gamecocks continue to build stepping stones in a climb up the SEC East standings. His hard work on the trail is beginning to pay off, with South Carolina picking up a commitment from safety JyVonte McClendon earlier this week. Hopefully, the Gamecocks will see a few more dominos fall over the Summer as visitors continue to roll in.

At the moment, South Carolina’s recruiting class ranks 41st nationally. Coach Beamer has secured a pledge from Braden Davis, a four-star quarterback of the future, as well as three much needed defenders. The Gamecocks should continue to stay hot on the recruiting trail this offseason as they continue to lay that foundation.
