Worst Case Scenario for South Carolina football

The Gamecocks come out completely one-dimensional on offense, and fail to clean up the issues that haunted last year’s defense. Luke Doty struggles in his first full season leading the offense, no one steps into the No. 1 role at wide receiver, and a lack of depth in the secondary leads to big plays from the opposition.

While the Gamecocks should be favored against Eastern Illinois, ECU, Troy, and Vanderbilt, they drop a game they shouldn’t. The loss carries over and the Gamecocks fall flat against Kentucky and Tennessee to start the year 3-4. A brutal second half slate leads to five straight losses, and the Gamecocks fall short of the four-win mark for a second consecutive season.

Shane Beamer disappoints in his inaugural campaign with the team finishing 3-9, and he finds this turnaround may take longer than anticipated.

We don’t necessarily see the year unfolding like this, but it will be a battle for the Gamecocks to reach bowl eligibility. Now, on to the program’s realistic outlook for the 2021 season, and our prediction for what South Carolina’s final record will be when the campaign comes to a close.
