The former South Carolina football star could have a big season in Cleveland.

South Carolina football superstar Jadeveon Clowney has been named as half of one of the NFL’s top pass rushing duos. Pro Football Focus recently dropped a list of six edge teammates, with one being the newly touted Cleveland Browns tag team. Which duo do you think is the best in the league?

Others included the Cardinals’ JJ Watt and Chandler Jones. Watt is a former teammate of Clowney’s, but both have now moved on from the Texans’ organization. Also listed are Chase Young and Montez Sweat of the Washington Football Team, Marcus Davenport and Cam Jordan of the Saints, Von Miller and Bradley Chubb of the Broncos, and Jason Pierre-Paul and Shaquille Barrett of Tampa Bay.

Garrett and Clowney certainly give the Browns the most star power, as both were No. 1 overall picks following All-American collegiate careers. Garrett has been among the league’s sack leaders in each of the last three seasons, while Clowney has been a force at both end and linebacker over his seven-year tenure.

Clowney is looking to jump back to relevance after a quiet year in Tennessee. The pass rusher has dealt with injuries over the last few seasons, but is hoping to quickly get back to All-Pro form. Teaming up with Garrett could help take some attention off of Clowney, and open some sack opportunities for the former Gamecock.

And it appears as though he’s taking his offseason training seriously. Check out what he posted on his Instagram account earlier today.

Clowney certainly has to improve his performance from the last few seasons (three sacks since 2019), but his new stint in Cleveland seems to be a starting on the right foot. Garrett and Clowney will be near the top of this discussion for the majority of the season, and we’re betting that the South Carolina alum will soon return to the player that recorded back-to-back nine sack years in Houston.
