South Carolina football starts its season on Sept. 4.

South Carolina football is in its first year under head coach Shane Beamer, preparing for a season opening matchup with Eastern Illinois in early September. Spring practice is through, which means ‘talking season’ is now upon us. And there’s a lot to talk about when it comes to the Gamecocks.

How will the team perform under a first-year coach? How does the defense replace lost production? Can Luke Doty lead an offense that ranked near the bottom of the SEC last season? Who steps up at wideout?

All of these questions are legitimate concerns, but some of the answers are becoming more apparent for the Gamecocks as the opener creeps closer. Spring practice gave us our first glimpse of what the offensive and defensive units will look like under new coordinators. We know that the coaching staff has confidence in their sophomore signal caller, naming Doty the QB1 entering the Summer. We also know that he’ll have a ton of help in the backfield between Kevin Harris, MarShawn Lloyd, and ZaQuandre White.

As things continue to become more clear, college football outlets are beginning to create season previews and predictions for the program in regards to the ’21 season, with one of those being College Football News.

The site recently unveiled its South Carolina season guide, detailing key players, schedule analysis, and a win/loss projection. Let’s dive into the preview to see how high they are on the Gamecocks and coach Beamer.
