South Carolina football looking to land help in secondary.

It’s been well documented that the South Carolina football team is in dire need of depth in the secondary. The Gamecocks lost Jammie Robinson, Shilo Sanders, John Dixon, Jaycee Horn, and Israel Mukuamu from last season’s roster, and return just a handful of players with in-game experience.

Over the offseason, the coaching staff was able to pull in the commitments of 2021 transfers David Spaulding, Isaiah Norris, Marcellas Dial, Carlins Platel, and Tyrese Ross, as well as a 2022 pledge from four-star safety Anthony Rose. Shane Beamer is looking to add to that haul, and his next opportunity to do so will come this week.

Three-star defender Kajuan Banks is announcing his college commitment tomorrow at noon, after narrowing his final list down to the Gamecocks, Maryland, and West Virginia. He’s also received offers from a number of high profile programs around the country, including Kentucky, Louisville, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and Washington State.

Banks would immediately upgrade the team speed at the position, as well as provide another much needed body in the defensive backfield. At Godby High School in Tallahassee, Banks runs track in addition to being a member of the football team. He posted a time of 11.04 seconds in the 100-meter dash earlier this month

The defensive back will make his announcement live on social media, providing a link for both his Twitter and Instagram. Shane Beamer will look to close the deal and add another talented player to the back end of the defense.
