The former South Carolina football star is one of many to react to the news.

Earlier this week, it was announced that new Jacksonville Jaguars coach Urban Meyer planned to bring Tim Tebow out of retirement and sign him to a one-year deal as a tight end. Tebow has been out of the league for a handful of years, last taking a snap 2012 – as a quarterback. It could be a publicity stunt, or maybe Meyer believes that the former Heisman winner can make an impact as a pass catcher.

It seems rather unlikely, though, considering he’s never played the position at a high level, and has been more focused on baseball and a career in sports broadcast than the NFL. Folks around the league are upset about the signing, too, with most pointing to the apparent blackballing of free agents like Colin Kaepernick.

Former South Carolina football star Jadeveon Clowney is one of those to be upset, and he took to social media to voice his opinion on the situation in Jacksonville.

The post was actually a re-post of a message sent by wide receiver Dez Bryant, who has been cycling in and out of the league after a long tenure in Dallas. Bryant, who has had much more professional success than Tebow, notes that the former signal caller hasn’t taken a snap in nearly a decade, but can slip onto an NFL roster with one call.

Tebow and Meyer have a past that dates back to their days at the University of Florida, where the two teamed up for a national title and SEC dominance. That relationship has apparently carried over to the NFL, where Meyer begins his first season as the Jacksonville head coach.

Clowney and Bryant aren’t the only ones upset by the news. Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Devin Bush posted the following message on social media following the breaking news.

"“Tebow got a job before Kaepernick… Wait til we play Jacksonville.. “"

The outrage is warranted, as there does seem to be a double standard with the predicted Tebow signing. Again, it seems very unlikely that a player that has never played a position, and that has been out of professional football for eight seasons will add any value to the Jaguars’ roster, while players like Dez Bryant continue their paths to NFL comebacks.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens with the Tebow situation, but he’s expected to sign his contract offer sometime next week.
