South Carolina football could make noise on the recruiting front.

The South Carolina football team just wrapped up Spring practice, meaning the staff now has its eyes set on recruiting efforts in the upcoming months. The Gamecocks have been making some noise of late, setting a number of official visit dates with talented prospects at the high school ranks. Head coach Shane Beamer doesn’t plan on slowing down any time soon, either.

Over the last few weeks, the program has been trending for four-star quarterback Braden Davis out of Delaware. Davis stands 6-foot-5, and has offers from high profile universities around the country. He recently released a top seven that included South Carolina, Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia Tech, NC State, Stanford, and West Virginia. He’s now set a commitment date for Friday of this week, and the Gamecocks have to like where they stand.

Shane Beamer is trying to land the first signal caller in the 2022 class, following the de-commitment of former pledge Gunner Stockton. The passer is considered by Rivals to be the nation’s 14th best pro-style quarterback. South Carolina is the perceived leader in the clubhouse, here, and nabbing a commitment from Davis would be huge for the Gamecocks moving forward.

Landing Davis could be a combo deal, too, as South Carolina has offered his teammate, and three-star defensive lineman Tomiwa Durojaiye. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound end’s stock has been rising quickly, with Durojaiye boasting nearly 20 new offers since early January. Of those offers, nine hail from Power Five programs, and they include Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, and West Virginia. A two-for-one special is a possibility, and would allow the Gamecocks to soar up the recruiting rankings.

The Delaware prospects aren’t the only players that the new staff has been working on, though, as they’ve now secured an official visit from four-star tailback Ramon Brown. Brown, the 10th best prospect in the state of Virginia, will be on campus this June.

Brown holds offers from Power Five programs Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, Penn State, Rutgers, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and West Virginia. Of that group, he’s set official visits with the Terrapins, Nittany Lions, and Mountaineers, as well as with the Gamecocks. He also plans to see Virginia Tech at some point this offseason. South Carolina appears to have elevated itself into Brown’s top group.

Four-star tight end Oscar Delp is also planning to see Columbia, setting an official visit date for the end of June. Delp is considered to be the nation’s top prospect at the position, and would have a chance to follow in the footsteps of NFLers Hayden Hurst and Jared Cook should he commit to the Gamecocks.

Delp holds offers from all the major players, including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, and Southern Cal. The Peach State native is ranked by Rivals as a top 100 prospect, and has also set official visit dates with SEC East foes in Athens and Gainesville. As of now, it looks to be a battle between Florida, Georgia, Michigan, and South Carolina. The Gamecocks should feel good about where they stand, though, and they’re currently scheduled to be the tight end’s last visit.

Beamer and Co. are hoping to land a visit from 2022 safety prospect Emory Floyd, who recently unveiled a top eight that included South Carolina. The Gamecocks stood alongside Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Maryland, North Carolina, and Notre Dame. Auburn, for now, seems to be his leader, but that could certainly change if the Gamecocks can get him on campus.

The Gamecocks are working hard to turn the program around after two very disappointing seasons, but coach Beamer has done a great job of building positive exposure surrounding the university. The current class is ranked 59th overall by Rivals, holding pledges from just two players. Should a handful of these prospects commit over the coming months, that will change very quickly.
