Did South Carolina football make the right call by accepting a bowl bid?

The Gamecocks learned earlier this week that they’d be playing UAB in the 2020 Gasparilla Bowl this postseason, despite winning just two games on the year, and ending the campaign on a six-game losing streak.

While the team will certainly welcome the extra practice time, there are also questions of whether or not the Gamecocks should actually play due to limited numbers on the roster, particularly on the defensive side of the football.

South Carolina has seen players opt out, had a handful choose to prepare for the NFL Draft, and dealt with injuries and youth at key positions.

So did the team make the right move by accepting the bowl bid, or should they have just packed it in and called it quits on a tumultuous 2020 season? Let’s look at it from both sides, going through the potential pros and cons of the postseason invite.
