Could South Carolina football have others declare?

The four players listed may not be the lone defections, especially when considering that the Gamecocks are in the midst of a head coaching change. Who are some other candidates for foregoing their final years of eligibility to enter the NFL Draft?

JJ ENAGBARE

Enagbare is the lone junior on this list, but with the eligibility requirements being lifted due to COVID, seniors technically have the option to return.

Enagbare led the Southeastern Conference with six sacks on the year, despite missing the final two games of the season. He also led the team with three forced fumbles, and could opt to enter the draft, as the NFL is always in need of pass rushers.

SADARIUS HUTCHERSON

Hutcherson was projected to be one of the top offensive lineman in the SEC, and he performed to that standard in 2020. He will likely be gone in 2021, leaving a huge void in the South Carolina front five.

NICK MUSE

Muse has yet to decide on his future, stating that he was waiting out the new coaching hire. The tight end was the team’s second leading receiver, and would be a huge “get” for Shane Beamer if he’s able to convince the transfer to return to school.

KEIR THOMAS

Thomas has been with the program for five seasons, but does have the option to return for a sixth. He had a productive year in 2020, totaling 32 tackles and three sacks, and may want to try his game at the next level.

A jump to the NFL would hurt the Gamecocks, but at least it’s at an area where the team has recruited well over the last few seasons.
