South Carolina football needs a culture change.

Passion

Shane Beamer brings an excitement and passion for the South Carolina program that was missing under the last staff. Not to say that Will Muschamp wasn’t passionate about winning, but he didn’t have the same outlook that Beamer will when leading this university.

Beamer is a Palmetto State native, who’s coached at the school through its best run in program history. He has strong ties to the university, and had been waiting for this opportunity to arise. He knows the program can be successful, having seen it firsthand. He’s excited about the chance to be a Gamecock again, and he wants his players to embrace that same view.

"“(I want) guys out there that are as grateful to be a Gamecock as I am. Guys that want to be here and guys that want to represent this great program and take great pride in being a football player at the University of South Carolina. I told the players yesterday how a core value that is very big with me in my life and off the field is gratitude, and how grateful I am for this opportunity that’s been given to me, to be the head football coach here. I want a team that feels the same way and understands what an amazing opportunity and how special it is to be a Gamecock. That’s what I want to begin with, guys that want to be here.”"

Beamer is looking to change the culture inside the program. It’s one of the reasons that he was hired, and also why he had such a strong backing of former Gamecocks. Marcus Lattimore, DJ Swearinger, Melvin Ingram, and more came out in support of coach Beamer, even before he was given the job.

The Gamecocks need the game to be fun again, and Beamer can put a jolt into the program with his energy and passion for South Carolina football.
