South Carolina football has hired Shane Beamer to be its next head coach.

The South Carolina football program hired Oklahoma assistant Shane Beamer to be its next leader on Sunday, ending a three week head coaching search following the firing of Will Muschamp. Beamer was chosen due to a variety of reasons, but most notably, he seemed to be the best fit for the university, as the Gamecocks look to change the culture of the football program and get back to the winning ways they experienced early on in the 2010s.

So, what can Beamer bring to the university, and how can he get the team back on track?

He’ll need to attack aspects of recruiting, staffing, and earn the trust of the current roster. Beamer landed in Columbia on Sunday, shortly after the news broke of his hire. He had a chance to address the team for the first time.

"“I got up there in front of the players yesterday and I knew it was not up to me to tell them they needed to trust me,” Beamer said at his introductory press conference on Monday. “They didn’t come to play football here at South Carolina for me. They came to play for coach Will Muschamp and his staff. What I told those guys is I was always going to be truthful with them, always going to be honest, always going to be real and always going to be genuine. I will work to earn their trust each and every day.”"

Beamer returned to Oklahoma this week, as he plans to finish out his time with the Sooners through the Big XII championship game on December 19th, but he’ll be expected to hit the ground running upon returning to Columbia.

What should we expect of the new head coach?
