South Carolina football: Makius Scott to enter transfer portal

Fr. DL to transfer from South Carolina football.
South Carolina football has lost a member of the 2020 roster to the transfer portal, as defensive lineman Makius Scott has opted to leave the program amid the uncertainty at head coach.
The freshman made his intentions known via Twitter, with the message below.
"I want to thank the University of South Carolina, Coach Muschamp, and Coach Scott for giving me the opportunity to play the Game I Love at The University of South Carolina. To my teammates, the bond that we have built will never be forgotten. With that being said, I will be entering my name into the transfer portal."
Scott opted out of the final three games of the 2020 season following Will Muschamp’s firing in November, so this news doesn’t necessarily come as a shock. He had not seen any playing time prior to his opting out.
A member of the 2020 recruiting class, Scott was rated by 247 Sports as a three-star prospect. He was pegged as the 755th best player in the nation, as well as the 74th best player in the state of Georgia and 62nd best defensive tackle.
Scott was one of four defensive line products to join that 2020 class, teaming up with Jordan Burch, Tonka Hemingway, and Alex Huntley. All three have seen action this year.
Time will tell, but this likely won’t be the last transfer from the South Carolina program this offseason. The Gamecocks may see a few more players enter the portal once a new head coach is in place.
