South Carolina football: Kevin Harris looking to be next 1,000 yard rusher

The Gamecocks will face Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Missouri, Georgia, and Kentucky in the back half of the schedule. Georgia and Kentucky may have the two best defensive units in the SEC, and the Aggies and Tigers both rank in the top half of the league at defending the run, so it may be a bit harder for Harris to find running room in the final five games.
On the bright side, though, he’ll also get a chance to run through the conference’s worst rated rush defense in Oxford, as the Rebels allow more than 250 yards a game on the ground.
With the run game being the most productive and consistent part of the offense, expect the Gamecocks to continue to pound the rock over the remaining five outings.
To reach the 1,000-yard mark, Harris will need to average at least 93 yards a game from here on out. We predict that he falls just short of the goal, with the Gamecocks still having to face their stiffest competition. Whether he reaches the mark or not, this will still go down as the best year from a Gamecock running back in nearly a decade.
