The South Carolina football team will head into its next matchup as underdogs.

Auburn is slated to travel to Columbia this Saturday, where they’ll take on a South Carolina football team fresh off of its first win of the season. The Gamecocks will now face their third ranked foe in four games, after dropping close ones to Tennessee and Florida.

Auburn enters the matchup at 2-1, having beaten Arkansas and Kentucky, but having fallen to the third-ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

The Tigers opened the week as three-point favorites according to SportsBetting.ag.

Despite having won two of their first three games, and being ranked among the nation’s top 15 teams, Tiger fans enter this matchup a little on edge. The offense has struggled to put points on the board, and Gus Malzahn’s group could easily be sitting at 1-2 following a controversial end to its 30-28 win over Arkansas on Saturday.

The Gamecocks, on the other hand, are coming off of their first win of the season, and hopefully have built a little confidence looking ahead to week four. They got a huge offensive performance in its 41-7 win over Vanderbilt, and will look to keep it rolling against an Auburn defense that ranks second in the SEC in scoring.

This series has been one-sided historically, with Auburn holding a 10-1-1 all-time advantage. The Gamecocks have yet to take down the Tigers since their induction into the SEC, and Auburn currently owns an eight-game series winning streak.

Despite Auburn’s dominance in the win-loss column, the series has produced some exciting matchups over the last few meetings, with four of the last five matchups being decided by a touchdown or less.

The Gamecocks will try to change that narrative on Saturday and leave Columbia with a win.
