South Carolina football: week three game times revealed
By Jacob Elsey
The SEC released times for its week 3 matchups, including South Carolina football’s contest with Vanderbilt.
The Southeastern Conference has released the time slots for each of its seven league matchups in week three of the 2020 season. South Carolina, who will be travelling to Nashville on October 10th, will take on the Vanderbilt Commodores at noon.
Below is the full SEC slate.
This will be the 30th all-time meeting between the two SEC eastern division rivals, with the Gamecocks holding a strong 25-4 series advantage. South Carolina is currently on an 11-game winning streak over the Commodores, including last year’s 24-7 win at Williams-Brice Stadium. It’s one of the longest active streaks in the conference.
Will Muschamp and Derek Mason have faced off a total of five times as head coaches, with Muschamp owning a 5-0 record over Mason (1 win at Florida, 4 wins at SC). Two of those four wins with South Carolina were decided by seven points or less.
This year’s meeting could have more impact on the two head coaches than usual. Prior to the season’s start, both were considered to be atop the SEC’s short list of coaches on the hot seat.
South Carolina is currently sitting at 0-1 following their four-point season opening loss to Tennessee on Saturday. They’ll look to get into the win column this weekend when they travel to the Swamp to take on the third-ranked Florida Gators. Florida took down Ole Miss 51-35 in week one.
Vanderbilt is 0-1 after being handed a 17-12 defeat from Jimbo Fisher and the Texas A&M Aggies. They’ll take on a winless LSU team this week before gearing up for their matchup with the Gamecocks.
