Mike Bobo will try to fix the South Carolina football team’s offensive woes.

REASON 3: New offense

Muschamp is on his third offensive coordinator in five years, after the failed experiment of promoting first-time play-caller Bryan McClendon. South Carolina finished 104th in scoring and 96th in total offense a year ago, and they’ll now usher in Muschamp’s last hope of fielding a productive offensive unit with the Gamecocks.

Mike Bobo comes to Columbia after having led successful offenses at both Georgia and Colorado State. Bobo’s track record alone should allow him some slack as he works to install a brand-new system at South Carolina. Muschamp and Bobo have worked together in the past, too, which will hopefully allow for the head coach to stay hands-off and let Bobo do what he does best.

As is the case with all offensive or defensive adjustments, there will be hiccups, but as long as the Gamecocks show some sort of improvement in 2020, both Bobo and Muschamp should be secure in returning for 2021.
