On Thursday the New York Giants announced they were picking up former South Carolina football player Tavien Feaster.

The New York Giants have major depth at the running back position, including the super talented Saquon Barkley, the illusive Dion Lewis, and former Clemson Tiger Wayne Gallman.

Now, they’ll add a former Gamecock to the mix as they’ve announced the addition of former South Carolina tailback Tavien Feaster.

The announcement comes from ESPN reporter Jordan Raanan on Twitter:

Feaster had been signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free-agent after the NBA draft but was released by the Jaguars earlier this summer. He wasn’t invited to the NFL Combine following his senior season, and unfortunately had his pro day at South Carolina cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Feaster spent three season with the Clemson Tigers before transferring to the Gamecocks to finish out his final year. He ran for 672 yards and five touchdowns with only 124 touches during his senior tour. Feaster was the leading rusher for the Gamecocks last season after the injury of starter Rico Dowdle.

While on Clemson’s national championship team, Feaster logged 440 yards and six touchdowns with 78 touches. The previous year Feaster got over 660 rushing yards with over 110 receiving yards.

Feaster attended Spartanburg High School, where he blossomed into a four-star recruit. According to 247Sports, the 6-foot, 222-pound back ranked as the 29th-best player nationally, regardless of position.

Feaster will join another Gamecock alum, linebacker T.J. Brunson, in New York. Brunson was drafted in the seventh round of the 2020 draft by the Giants.

The move was made after New York released wide receiver Tony Brown earlier today.
