6. TENNESSEE

The Vols won their last six games of 2019, and handed the Gamecocks a 41-21 loss in late October. South Carolina will hope to avenge that loss when Tennessee visits Williams-Brice Stadium in 2020.

If Tennessee can work through some questions at quarterback, they could have one of the conference’s better offensive units. The line will be stout, anchored by senior Trey Smith. They’ll also boast a talented backfield with the return of Eric Gray. They could be a fun team to watch next season.

5. TEXAS A&M

A&M returns the most experience of any team in the SEC, which could spell bad news for the Gamecocks. Still looking for their first win in the series, South Carolina will have to upend senior quarterback Kellen Mond, amongst others, to stop its losing streak

A high-powered rushing attack will come to Columbia to match up against what should be a talented Carolina defense. The Aggies are ranked 13th in the initial preseason poll.

4. LSU

The Gamecocks visit defending national champion LSU in a game that was originally scheduled for mid-November. The Tigers lose a ton of talent from last year’s championship crew, most notably, Heisman trophy winner Joe Burrow.

Depending on when the Gamecocks catch the Tigers in the season, they might have a chance to pull an upset. LSU must find a new starting quarterback, running back, receiver, and tight end. And that’s just the offensive side of the football. Gamecock fans will definitely be eager to try to knock off the reigning champs.
