DEVAN DOWNEY
Downey played three seasons in Columbia and was named first-team All-SEC on each occasion. He led the nation in steals as a sophomore, and currently sits at second on the SEC’s all-time list. As a senior he led the conference, and was fourth nationally in scoring, averaging 22.5 points per game.
GRADY WALLACE
Wallace was a Gamecock for just two years, but in one of those he led the nation in scoring. As a senior, he averaged over 31 points and 14 boards per game on his way to All-America honors. His career average of 28 points per game is a school best, while his 12 rebound a contest average ranks second behind Tom Owens.
KEVIN JOYCE
Joyce was a member of the 1971 ACC tournament champion team as a freshman, and went on to a productive three-year career with the Gamecocks. He averaged more than 20 points a game as a junior and scored 1,400 career points.
ZAM FREDRICK
Fredrick led the nation in scoring as a senior, totaling 28.9 points per contest in the ’80-’81 season. He totaled 1,383 points over his four-year career.
MIKE DUNLEAVY
Dunleavy scored 1,586 points as a Gamecock between 1972-1976. He led the team to two NCAA appearances and dished out 364 assists over his career. He’d go on to play in the NBA before becoming a head coach. He owns 613 regular season wins as a coach, which ranks among the top 30 in NBA history.
