8. JERMAINE COUISNARD SINKS UK
Last season’s matchup against Kentucky produced the play of the year in Gamecock sports. The Wildcats entered Colonial Life Arena ranked 10th in the country, while South Carolina was riding a three-game losing streak.
The streak prompted coach Frank Martin to insert Jermaine Couisnard into the lineup at the point guard position. The rest is history.
The Gamecocks rallied to overcome a 14-point second half deficit, holding a 78-76 lead with 11 seconds left in the game. With Kentucky owning possession, guard Emmanuel Quickley tied the game with a fade away jumper, which set the stage for Couisnard.
The freshman took the inbound the length of the court and heaved up a three as time expired. His shot banked in off the backboard, securing a huge win in front of the home crowd. Couisnard’s 26 points led all scorers.
