10. ZAM FREDRICK’S BUZZER BEATING LAY-IN
In 2009, the Gamecock basketball team squared off against the 24th-ranked Florida Gators. Down a point with less than five seconds remaining on the clock, South Carolina guard Zam Fredrick had an opportunity to tie the game at 69 with a free throw.
Fredrick’s shot was off the mark, and was rebounded by Florida’s Chandler Parsons, who was fouled immediately. Parsons toed the line with 3.3. seconds left, attempting to build the Gator lead to three.
Parsons’, too, missed his foul shot, with it clanking off the front iron and directly into the hands of South Carolina forward Mike Holmes. Holmes, without hesitation, heaved the ball down court to a sprinting Fredrick, who redeemed himself by laying in the winning basket as time expired.
