South Carolina Football: Ten Best Individual Performance of the Decade
By Jacob Elsey
5. MARCUS LATTIMORE VS. FLORIDA (2010)
Lattimore’s performance against the Gators in 2010 was the most dominant of his career. The freshman toted the rock 40 times for 212 yards, leading the Gamecocks to an SEC East clinching win in the Swamp.
The 40 carries were a career high for Lattimore, and his 212 rushing yards ranks 10th in program history. Florida had no answers for the Gamecock running back, and was outscored 36-7 after the first minute of the game (the Gators returned the opening kick for a TD).
Lattimore punched the ball in on three different occasions, and Steve Spurrier was able to lead the Gamecocks to their first ever SEC East title by defeating his old team. At season’s end, Lattimore would be named national freshman of the year, running for 1,197 yards and a program record 17 touchdowns.
