South Carolina Football: Ten Best Individual Performance of the Decade
By Jacob Elsey
6. MELVIN INGRAM VS. UGA (2011)
The first defender to make the list, Ingram showed out in a 2011 matchup with the Georgia Bulldogs. The lineman scored two touchdowns, once on defense and once on special teams, leading the Gamecocks to a 45-42 win in Athens.
With his team trailing 13-7 late in the first half, Ingram lined up on the punt team as the Gamecocks prepared to give the ball back to the Bulldogs. South Carolina audibled to a fake after seeing the Bulldogs line up, which resulted in a 68-yard touchdown run for the Carolina big man.
Ingram wasn’t done, though. With Georgia trying to mount a late comeback, teammate Jadeveon Clowney made a strip sack of quarterback Aaron Murray, which Ingram recovered for the game-sealing touchdown.
Finally, with the Bulldogs grasping for one last comeback attempt, Ingram recovered an onside kick, ending any Georgia hope. It was the Gamecocks’ second-straight win over the Bulldogs.
