2. ISRAEL MUKUAMU VS. UGA (2019)

Israel Mukuamu recorded one of the most dominant games by a Gamecock defender in South Carolina’s upset of No. 3 Georgia last year.  The second-year cornerback picked off Bulldog quarterback Jake Fromm three times, helping the Gamecocks secure a 20-17 overtime win between the hedges.

One of those three interceptions came with the first half winding down, and the score knotted at 10-10.  Mukuamu jumped an out route and took the turnover 53 yards down the sideline for a touchdown.  He’d then make his second pick late in the second half, followed by a third in the first overtime session.

The three interceptions are one off the program record, and were instrumental in securing the upset, as South Carolina was held scoreless over the entire second half.  Mukuamu was named national defensive player of the week for his efforts.
