South Carolina Football: 10 Players that Gamecocks are Glad to See Leave the SEC
By Jacob Elsey
LAMICAL PERINE
Perine has been a Gamecock killer the last two seasons as the lead back in the Florida Gator offense. After four years in Gainesville, he’s off to the NFL, being drafted in the fourth round by the New York Jets.
Last year, Perine helped lead the Gators to a 38-27 victory in Williams-Brice Stadium, rushing for 68 yards while also hauling in a couple passes. He was an even bigger factor in Florida’s 17-point second-half comeback the year prior.
In the 2018 meeting, Perine eclipsed the century mark and scored two huge touchdowns as the Gators pulled out a 35-31 win in the Swamp. He was part of a backfield that ran for nearly 400 yards that early November day.
The Gamecocks are glad the runner won’t be a factor in the 2020 matchup as they look to beat the Gators for the first time since 2017.
