South Carolina Football: 10 Players that Gamecocks are Glad to See Leave the SEC
By Jacob Elsey
D’ANDRE SWIFT
Georgia has long been known as running back U, and their latest product, D’Andre Swift is off to the NFL after a productive three-year career in Athens.
Matching up against the Gamecocks on three occasions (two starts), he’s tallied 199 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Each season, his production has grown, ending with his most recent matchup, where he ran for 113 yards in the Gamecocks’ upset win over the Bulldogs in 2019.
As a reserve in 2017, Swift carried the rock just five times for 22 yards, but it was just the first glimpse that Gamecock fans would see of the 5’8” tailback.
As a junior, he earned the starting role, scoring his first touchdown against the Gamecocks on his way to a 64-yard performance. He followed it up by eclipsing the century mark last year, and finding the endzone once again.
He leaves the Bulldog program as the seventh-leading rusher, just ahead of Knowshon Moreno. In April, Swift was selected with the 35th overall pick, landing with the Lions in Detroit.
