MICHIGAN 2017

The 2017 Gamecocks won eight regular season games on their way to an Outback Bowl matchup versus the Michigan Wolverines.  The two teams had played a thriller a few years prior, a 33-28 South Carolina victory, that included Jadeveon Clowney’s famous hit on Michigan’s Vincent Smith.

The 2017 version didn’t get off to as good of a start as Gamecock fans would’ve liked, though.  South Carolina came out the gates slow, punting or turning the ball over on nine of their first 10 possessions.  They trailed 19-3 with less than three minutes remaining in the third quarter.

The tides would change in the last period, though.  Over the final 18 minutes of the game, South Carolina outscored the Wolverines 23-0, turning Michigan over on three separate occasions.

The 16-point second-half comeback was one of the largest of the decade for the South Carolina program.
