Late Wednesday night, the South Carolina football team landed its third commitment in eight days.

Offensive tackle Jordan Davis committed to the Gamecocks Wednesday night, becoming the ninth member of the 2021 recruiting class.

The 6’5” lineman is rated by Rivals as a three-star prospect and the 89th best player in the state of Georgia.  He committed to the Gamecocks over offers from Georgia Tech, Kansas, and Memphis among others.

Head coach Will Muschamp and his recruiting staff are making a living in the Peach State, as Davis represents the sixth member of the class to hail from South Carolina’s neighbor to the south, including the Gamecocks’ last four commitments.

Davis is the third player to commit to the program in the last eight days, joining running back prospect Caleb McDowell and safety Jayden Johnson.  The 290-pounder becomes the first offensive lineman in the 2021 class.  He committed just two days after coach Eric Wolford and the Gamecocks offered.

Here’s what Davis had to say about the announcement on his Twitter page.

"“First I would like to thank everyone who helped me make it this far from my mom to my Creekside high school coaches believing in me since day 1 to my friends and family. I had reviewed my options and what’s best for me and what I can get the most out of with that being said I am Committed 100% to the University of South Carolina! #SpursUp #Gamecocks.”"

Davis has yet to visit campus, with in-person recruiting being placed on hold due to the national pandemic, but has said he’s always been a fan of the program.

He will join a deep Carolina offensive line room, one that is probably the Gamecocks’ most talented position group heading into the 2020 season.

With the commitment, South Carolina’s recruiting class moves up to 48th nationally.
