The Gamecocks take on one of the nation’s top schedules in 2020, and they’ll face off against a handful of the top receivers in the country.  The list includes players that hail from the SEC, ACC, and American Athletic Conference.

As the South Carolina football season draws closer, we’re breaking down some of the best players by position on the Gamecocks’ upcoming schedule.  Today, we focus on wide receivers, and a group of elite pass catchers that will line up against Carolina’s defense next year.

The Gamecocks took on a number of the nation’s top receiving options a year ago, including first-round picks Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs of Alabama, and second-round selection Tee Higgins of Clemson.  This year could be more of the same, as they’ll face off against the top player at the position in all of college football.

The South Carolina secondary, if healthy, can be one of the strengths of the Gamecock defense, which is good news for head coach Will Muschamp.  The group is a bit thin, but is proven.  Izzy Mukuamu and Jaycee Horn make up one of the top cornerback tandems in the country, and the Gamecocks saw true freshman Jammie Robinson step up as an all-conference performer at nickel and safety in ‘19.

They’ll certainly have their work cut out for them in slowing down these receiving threats next season.  Now, on to the list.
