Hill does have some things working against him, though, most notably being his history of injury.  He’s never started more than four games in a season, and as mentioned before, is rehabbing from his third ACL tear.

Will the knee get back to where it was before?  Will he have enough time to move up the depth chart when he returns this Fall?  Those are legitimate concerns for the Gamecock coaching staff as they prepare for the upcoming year.

The other roadblock is Ryan Hilinski.  The team seemingly found their quarterback of the future when Hilinski stepped in as a true freshman to start the final 11 games of last season.

He performed well, too, topping the 300-yard mark in three games, one of which was against Alabama.  He finished second among SEC freshmen with 2,357 passing yards and showed toughness while battling through a few minor injuries.  With a year under his belt, are coaches willing to halt Hilinski’s progression by replacing him with Hill ahead of the 2020 season?
