Will Muschamp added long-time NC State assistant Des Kitchings to the Carolina staff on Friday.  Kitchings will coach running backs, filling the void left by Thomas Brown’s departure to the NFL.

Kitchings is a South Carolina native, growing up in Wagener and attending Furman University.  He has 16 years of coaching experience under his belt, with the last eight being on staff with the Wolfpack.  At NC State, he held the title of Co-Offensive Coordinator/RB Coach.  Previous players to receive his tutelage include Matthew Dayes, Nyheim Hines, and Zac Stacy.  The Wolfpack had a 1,000 yard rusher each season from 2016-2018.

Kitchings other stops include Vanderbilt, Air Force, and Furman.  He receives a one-year deal worth $300,000.  He’ll take over a young Gamecock running back room that includes Deshaun Fenwick, Kevin Harris, ZaQuandre White, and MarShawn Lloyd.
