Frank Martin landed his first commitment for the 2021 recruiting class on Friday in the form of three-star shooting guard Devin Carter.  Carter, who is the son of former NBAer and current Heat coach Anthony Carter, attends Doral Academy in Miami.

Rated as the 217th best prospect in his class, Carter chose the Gamecocks over offers from California, VCU, Georgia Tech, College of Charleston, DePaul, East Carolina, and others.  The 6’4” guard averaged over 28 ppg as a senior, and was recently named Miami’s Mr. Basketball, despite playing in only 17 games.

Carter’s season was cut short due to a shoulder injury.  He will attend a year of prep school following his recovery, and has reclassified to the 2021 class.
