EDGE JOHN ABRAHAM (2000)

Abraham was the 13th pick of the ‘00 NFL Draft, selected by the New York Jets.  The draft class included high-profile defenders Brian Urlacher, Lavar Arrington, and Shaun Ellis.  Abraham would spend six years in New York before moving on to Atlanta for seven seasons, and ultimately ending his career with a two-year stint in Arizona.

The Timmonsville native ranks 13th all-time with 133.5 career sacks.  He also tallied 560 total tackles and 47 forced fumbles on his way to five Pro Bowl seasons.  Abraham is the all-time sack leader for the Atlanta Falcons, and ranks third on the Jets’ all-time list.  He earned a Pro Bowl invite at each of his three NFL stops.

As a Gamecock, Abraham led the team in sacks in each of his four seasons on campus.  His 23.5 career sacks rank fourth all-time, just behind superstar defensive end Jadeveon Clowney.
