Frank Martin and Co. will take on the Army Black Knights next year on the hardwood as part of their non-conference schedule.  First reported by Jon Rothstein, the matchup is set to take place in Colonial Life Arena.

South Carolina and Army have met on the court only once before, way back in the second round of the 1969 NIT.  The Black Knights took down the 13th ranked Gamecocks and left Madison Square Garden that night with a 59-45 victory.  That team was led by head coach Bob Knight, and a senior guard by the name of Mike Krzyzewski.

Army ended last season with a 15-15 record and a fourth-place finish in the Patriot League.   They will lose their top two scorers from last season, in guard Tommy Funk and center Matt Wilson.  Next year’s squad will be led by seniors Lonnie Grayson and Alex King, as well as Columbia native and Heathwood Hall grad Josh Caldwell.

The Gamecocks have already announced a few other non-conference matchups for the 2020-21 season.  South Carolina will renew its annual meeting with Clemson, and is also set to participate in the Hall of Fame Classic alongside TCU, Cal, and Northwestern.
