Defensive lineman Nick Barrett committed to Gamecocks on Wednesday night, becoming the fourth member of South Carolina’s 2021 recruiting class. His main recruiters were special teams coordinator Kyle Krantz and new defensive line coach Tracy Rocker.
The North Carolina native is rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals. A massive human being, Barrett stands 6’ 3” and weighs in at 320 lbs. He chose the Gamecocks over offers from Ole Miss, Duke, Penn State, Tennessee, and Virginia. Will Muschamp and the Carolina coaching staff offered way back in December.
Barrett joins quarterback Colten Gauthier, defensive back Marcellas Dial, and wide receiver Sam Reynolds in the 2021 class.
