FRINK GOES OFF AGAINST GEORGIA

In one of the more exciting games of the season, the Gamecocks took on the Georgia Bulldogs in Columbia.  It ended up being an overtime thriller, with South Carolina prevailing 94-90 to sweep the season series.

All eyes were on UGA’s freshman phenom Anthony Edwards, who went off for 36 points on 11 of 22 shooting, but an unexpected hero would make sure the Bulldogs didn’t escape with the win.

Sophomore forward Alanzo Frink, who averaged just around 5 PPG on the season, scored a career-high 22 to lead the team.  Frink was nearly perfect from the field, making 8 of his 10 attempts.  It is the only 20-point game of his career.

Georgia had no answer for the big man, who’d scored just three points in the previous matchup between the two teams.

Frink was playing his best basketball late in the year, shooting at a 74% clip over his last four games, which started with this outburst against the Bulldogs.  He’ll hope to pick up where he left off when the Gamecocks return to the court next season, and is a likely candidate to take the place of Maik Kotsar in South Carolina’s frontcourt.
