Will Muschamp and Co. picked up a commitment from a cornerback in the Junior College ranks on Monday.

Marcellas Dial, who attended Georgia Military College last year, becomes the 4th commitment in the 2021 class for the Gamecocks.

Originally from Woodruff, SC, Dial is returning to his home state and looks to join fellow cornerback Demarko Williams, four-star quarterback Colten Gauthier, and wide receiver Sam Reynolds in Columbia as freshmen next season.

Dial joins a long list of defensive backs to come to South Carolina after spending time in junior college, including former 1st round pick Johnathan Joseph.  More recently, that list includes Jamarcus King, Keisean Nixon, and Stephen Montac, all of whom played major roles in the Gamecocks’ secondary under Coach Muschamp.

Georgia Military College has been a major pipeline for the Gamecocks over the years.  Notable alumni to come through Columbia include Jasper and Casper Brinkley, Rokevious Watson, Josh Dickerson, and Tony Straughter.  He will also join two former GMC goers that are currently on USC’s roster in Jabari Ellis and Devontae Davis.
