HAYDEN HURST (TE)

Hurst, a first-round selection of the Baltimore Ravens in 2018, was traded to the Falcons earlier this week.  He looks to fill the void left by former Atlanta TE Austin Hooper, who recently signed a deal with the Cleveland Browns in free agency.

Baltimore’s TE room was crowded, with Nick Boyle and Pro Bowler Mark Andrews also in the fold, so the Ravens decided to move on from their former top pick.  In return, they received a second- and fifth-round pick in the upcoming draft.

In his two years with the Ravens, Hurst secured 43 receptions for 512 yards and 3 TDs.  The 26-year-old should immediately become a focal point in the Atlanta offense, especially after Hooper’s departure.

As a Gamecock, Hurst began his career under coach Steve Spurrier.  He walked on to the football program following a stint in Major League Baseball, where he was a pitcher in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ organization.  In his three-year career, Hurst caught 100 passes for 1,281 yards and 4 TDs.  He was an All-SEC selection in his final year on campus.
