South Carolina Football: 5 Possible replacements for Steve Spurrier
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports
Tom Herman is the Houston head coach and a name thrown in to the rumor mill that could be an interesting choice for the Gamecocks program. He is a great offensive minded coach and in 2014 won the Broyles Award while offensive coordinator at Ohio State.
In his first year as the Houston head coach he already has them sitting at #24 in the nation with a 5-0 record. The Gamecocks should go with a defensive minded coach due to the fact that the SEC is a defensive driven league. Herman is a great young coach that the Gamecocks program could snatch up easily.
Whoever takes over has the chance to make history and be known as one of the best South Carolina Gamecocks coaches of all time. They have the chance to be better than Spurrier if they can just win the SEC or National Championship for the Gamecocks Football program.
