The South Carolina Gamecocks have had three different starting quarterbacks so far this year, Connor Mitch, Perry Orth and now Lorenzo Nunez. But with all the freshman mistakes Nunez constantly makes, should the Gamecocks give the starting job back to Connor Mitch when he returns from injury?

Lorenzo Nunez has shown signs of being worthy of the starting position, throwing 12-22 for 184 yards and two touchdowns in his first start against a horrible UCF team. This past Saturday though it became clear that Nunez has to mature as a college quarterback, throwing three interceptions that turned into scoring drives for Missouri. Nunez has amazing speed and arm power but his trajectory on the ball is his biggest down side so far.
Connor Mitch started the season opener for the Gamecocks when they faced the North Carolina Tarheels in Charlotte, going 9-22 for 122 yards and a touchdown and leading the Gamecocks to a 17-13 victory. Mitch suffered a serious hip bruise during the North Carolina game which got even worse during the Kentucky game where he also separated his shoulder. One thing this tells me is that Connor Mitch is one tough man playing with the type of bruise he had during that Kentucky game. Check out the bruise Mitch suffered that he posted on his snapchat,
Like Nunez, Mitch also has showed signs that he deserves to be the starting quarterback for the Gamecocks. Mitch has shown that he has a cannon of a arm and that he can also run pretty good. There was a reason Mitch was named the starter and I don’t think he should lose that starting job because of his injuries he suffered in the first two games of the season.
South Carolina should be in panic mode to try and turn things around to get them to six wins for the season. To do that you need as much experience as possible on the field, and Mitch has been around the program for three years now and has a really good idea of the offense. There is no doubting Nunez has the talent to be a good starting quarterback but he’s just not ready right now.
