Vanderbilt Commodores

This one really doesn’t need an explanation. Vanderbilt is a team that is the perennial doormat in the SEC. Gamecock fans expect the team to win, especially since the game will be played in Williams-Brice Stadium.

Vanderbilt opened the season with a 14-12 loss to Western Kentucky and followed that up with a 17 point loss to Georgia. Last week they beat Austin Peay 47-7 to rebound from the early two losses, but Vandy really doesn’t look good.

At the beginning of the season, most pundits thought Vanderbilt running back Ralph Webb would be a guy to keep an eye on. So far this season he’s found little room to run averging 3.3 yards per carry. Quarterback Johnny McCrary has also thrown 5 interceptions on the season to 4 touchdowns. As a team, the Commodores have turned the ball over 8 times.

The Commodores will be in Columbia in 4 Saturdays and will have a bye week to prepare for the game. They will also be ending a 3 game road trip that will kick off against number 3 Ole Miss this week. South Carolina on the other hand will be playing 3 games that will at least give the coaches more time to figure out all of the problems they’ve had on the field so far this season.
