Alan Knott
Alan Knott was a 3-star rated offensive guard in the class of 2013 according to the 247Sports Composite. He was ranked the number 48 offensive guard in the class. He held offers from Louisville, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, and many others but found his home at the University of South Carolina.
Knott entered college with many thinking he’d make an impact later in his career after spending a couple of years developing. That has not been the case.
He impressed the coaches, and they rewarded him by naming him the Most Improved Offensive Lineman and the Joe Morrison Offensive Player of the Spring.
Although, Knott redshirted his freshman year, he found a lot of playing time as a redshirt freshman. That seemed pretty unlikely since he missed most of the preseason after injuring his right knee. Knott was able to recover and played in all 13 games and started in 8 of those games.
During spring practice, Knott took things up a notch. He impressed the coaches, and they rewarded him by naming him the Most Improved Offensive Lineman and the Joe Morrison Offensive Player of the Spring. Those weren’t the only accolades he would receive. Knott was also named to the Rimington Watch List, which is given to the best center at the end of the football season. Knott will be the only player to not be backed up by a player with no collegiate experience.
