South Carolina Gamecocks 2015 Position Preview: Cornerbacks

Jamari Smith was rated 3-star running back in the Class of according to the 247Sports Composite. He made the transition from running back to cornerback at South Carolina due to the loaded backfield the Gamecocks boasted at the time. He committed to the Gamecocks over offers from Arkansas, Auburn, and Penn State.
During his freshman season, he played primarily on special teams. However, injuries began to mount at running back for the Gamecocks, and Smith found an opportunity to run the ball against Coastal Carolina. He carried the ball 10 times for 103 yards and a touchdown. Last season, Smith redshirted after breaking his foot in preseason camp.
Darin Smalls was rated a 3-star safety according to the 247Sports Composite. He committed to South Carolina over offers from Clemson, Florida State, Tennessee, and others. He did not enroll last year after signing with the Gamecocks because he wanted to focus on rehabbing his knee after suffering an injury during his senior year of high school.
Rashad Fenton was rated a 3-star cornerback in the class of 2015 according to the 247Sports Composite. He committed to the Gamecocks over Louisville and Florida. He also had offers from Auburn, Illinois, Arkansas, Miami, and others.
